Ergonomic Assessment and Job Station Accommodations
Like a job analysis, an ergonomic assessment describes job
duties and quantifies and qualifies physical demands. In addition
this assessment identifies risk factors and offers recommendations
to minimize or eliminate such factors.
Office Ergonomics In-service
This program provides training to employers and their staff
on how to set up individual workstations to meet physical
demands and workflow needs. Education is also provided on
how to minimize stress and reduce strain on working muscle
groups.
Management Education
In-services are provided to supervisors to assist them in
assessing ergonomic issues. Also in this arena, we provide
consultation to employers on return to work issues as well
as ADA accommodation considerations. We have also worked with
employers in developing, as well as enhancing, return to work
programs. In a recent, large-scale project, we identified
a range of transitional tasks, as well as, the physical demands
associated with those tasks to facilitate early return to
work. We also offer customized training for nursing home staff
on various patient transfers.
Job Rotation Program Development
This program allows employees to minimize exposure to fatigue
and repetition.
Ergonomic Consultation
on Equipment/Machine Design
Encore Unlimited’s ergonomic staff has worked with engineers
to offer an ergonomic perspective when equipment/machines
are either designed or reengineered.
When should you consider an Encore Unlimited
Ergonomic Service?
 |
When an employee reports that assigned
job duties exceed return to work restrictions. |
 |
When a discrepancy
exists between the employee’s report
of job demands and the employer's report of job demands. |
 |
When the physician and/or employer states
that the employee cannot return
to work until fully recovered from the injury. |
 |
When the reported
injury does not match the typical injuries expected in the
position (e.g. rotator cuff tear in a light
assembly line job performed at waist level). |
 |
When causation
is questioned, and an Independent Medical
Evaluation has been arranged. |
 |
When several
employees complain of problems with a specific job and/or
multiple injuries are reported from the same job
or task. |
 |
When assistance is needed in identification
of transitional duties. |
 |
When litigation
is imminent. |
 |
When the workplace
is remodeled or expanded with new construction. |
